West Point Big Game - Been There Great Time!

Posted by McLovin

I just got back from one of the sickest big game events I have played in a long time. With over 600 paintball players attending the 2 day event, it was the largest game held by the U.S. Army to date. The game was based on the scenario of the United States against the Korean Army. With about 60 acres of playing fields being used it was very easy to not play the same piece of ground throughout the entire weekend.

There were a few paintball celebrities in the house also. Greg Hastings of GHTP fame was playing on the Korean team along with Sonny Lopez from the L.A. Hitmen, and rocking the full line of Full Clip gear. I was accompanied by 8 guys from the scenario team Misdirected Hostilities based out of Ecx Paintball Park, in Maryland. We were assigned to the Korean team. The first game kicked off on Saturday morning at 11 am and we were off.

Our small force of about 25 headed out down the right tape, as I looked around at our miniature army of killers I was amazed to see the different array of paintball markers in our crew. We were armed with all the latest and greatest paintball markers the industry has to offer. I had Tippmann model 98’s and Planet Eclipse Ego’s to my right and Bob Long Marq 7’s and Invert Mini’s to my left. We were ready for battle.

After hiking thru the natural terrain of the New York mountain sides for about 5 minutes we finally reached our first contacts. A small force of about 10 Americans holding a rock wall about 20 yards out. We quickly engaged the small force in front of us, and rolled thru them within seconds. We were on our way. One of the coolest things about playing a paintball game with the U.S. Army was the cadets mixed in with the paintball players carrying real m-60 machine guns. Thru out the day they would walk up and rip off a burst of automatic fire that really gave you appreciation for what these men do on a daily basis. If you have never seen an m-60 fired first hand, it is definitely something you should check out. They also had mortars that were fired throughout the day giving off the largest boom you have ever heard.

We battled for about 5 hrs on Saturday then headed back to the staging area to pack up and head back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep and a 7am wake up call. We were back at the field at 9 am the next day ready for battle again. There were a few different venders set up at the event, most noticeably was Tippmann Pneumatics. They had brought their trailer and were displaying the full line of Tippmann Paintball Markers. I was really impressed with the new U.S. Army Paintball Guns made exclusively for the U.S. Army. The Alpha Black features a realistic military appearance and comes with a high-performance 11” barrel, an integrated carry handle and a removable magazine that doubles as a tool kit. This baby was ready to rock right out of the box.

I would have to say this was one of the best big games I have ever attended. Everything ran perfect. The air lines were minimum, registration was a breeze, and everyone there did an amazing job to make sure the entire weekend was a huge success. This game is run twice a year; make sure you do not miss out on the fall game that is going to be going on sometime around August.
