Thermal Paintball Goggles
|What Are “Thermal Goggles”?
The term thermal goggles used to refer to goggle systems that had a dual pane lens system. The dual pane lens would consist of outer lens the paintball would hit, and a soft inner lens. The inner lens would trap warm air in-between the 2 lens which would help prevent your goggles from fogging. Dye, JT USA, Vents goggle systems all have a dual pane system. The down side to a dual pane is the inner lens is usually very soft and practically imposable to clean without scratching.
Goggles like the V Force profilers have a thermal anti fog coat which is factory baked on to help prevent fogging. The large bubble design of the lens allows for hot air to escape the goggles before fogging can occur. Although they consist of single lens construction, they are considered thermal goggles.
Most manufacturers recommend replacing your paintball lens whenever you get a direct hit on them. If you ever see signs of cracking, you must replace the lens. its for your own good. There are also a number of goggle and lens cleaning products.
