Is Scenario Play Good for Paintball?
|With paintball manufacturers waking up and starting to cater to the needs of the “Scenario” paintball player, you are seeing more and more people buying the Mil-Sim paintball guns. These military simulation style paintball guns, like the Type 68 and BT Guns, look exactly like real guns (to the untrained eye). The other day, I was at the field and their were grown 40+ men in full battle dress (boots, camo, vest, hydration pack and helmet). I couldn’t help but wonder….Is this good for paintball?

I don’t think so. People see them running around they look like crazy fools. As if they are training for their militia. If they want to play army so much they should join the army.

People think their crazy. When your that into dressing up to play SWAT in the woods or whatever your crazy. If you know a guy whos crazy you stay away from him. Its as simple as that.

Scenario paintball’s image may be that of warfare, but overall, the in-game attitude is usually significantly more friendly than that of the tournament speedball scene.
Scenario is just a big woods game for the most part. Don’t get woodsball and scenario mixed up with tactical Mil-Sim. One main difference is that Mil-Sim doesn’t just happen with paintball, it includes splinters in other shooter-tag industries (like airsoft and laser tag) which show more prevalence than paintball’s Mil-Sim sector does.

The only way it can really be seen as harmful to the paintball industry is when reporters and politicians who know nothing about the sport come up with the idea that guys are practicing to kill people and other crazy things.
Ridiculous as that is, perhaps mil-sim guns should be required to have those orange barrel tips or something similar so anyone can tell the difference.
