Smart Parts has officially said that the ION paintball gun has been discontinued for their new ION XE paintball gun. The Ion changed the industry, when it first came out it retailed for $399 and was the first paintball gun to offer a speed of 18bps and electronic anti chop beam break eyes for under $800.  Once Smart Parts Dropped the price of the ION down to $199  (and lower) they  owned the entry level market.  The Ion forced manufacturers to tighten their belts and to start releasing high performance features with entry level pricing.

The Ion XE gun is the same great Ion with a slightly new look and a cool new feature.  The XE has more of a edgy body kit to it, and more importantly, the new XE allows you to take the bolt out for maintenance out of the rear of the gun.  So not you don’t have to tear the hole gun apart to get to the bolt.  This is a big time saving feature.   Currently only black is available for the ION XE, however once we start to get colors in we will feature them on the front page of SAKWORLDPAINTBALL.com, which is were you can find all the cool new paintball gear out there.

With the right size balls, the barrel shoots very accurate. The asthetics are simple but the barrel is built with high quality. In comparing the smoothness of the internal boring to other barrels, the TI is mirror smooth.
Pricey, but you get what you pay for.”

Due to some manufacturing (anodizing) issues Planet Eclipse has had to change around some colors on their 2008 EGO Paintball guns.  They have stop (for the time being) making “light” colored bodies because they were too hard to color and have a good finished product.  The white and Olive 08 Egos are no longer made for this reason.  “The light colored body’s were taking too long to make and they weren’t coming out good” says Marc Lancia of Planet Eclipse.  They replaced brown w/olive and black w/white for the Solid White and Olive w/Brown.

Once more demand is met for the 08 EGO they will consider making lighter colored bodies again.  Until then you have the 08 CCU kits coming out soon, the 2007 CCU kits will also work on the 2008 EGO.

The Smart Parts Ion paintball gun Just dropped in price down to $164.  Its a great deal for these entry level tournament gun.  They have a beam break eye system and can shoot 18 BPS stock, which is fast for a $164 gun.  Its not recommenced you use CO2.  Take the money your saving with the price drop and buy one of our house brand n2 Tanks.  It will give your ion the consistent air it needs to operate at peak performance.  If you use CO2 there is a very good chance your Ion will free up due to liquid CO2 entering your gun.  Its not worth the trouble trying to run CO2 on your ION.

So the Invert Mini Paintball gun which is a great gun is on sale for $325.  The mini is cool because it has no external air lines, it has a mini regulator built into the ASA adapter and its the smallest gun i have ever held.  I have one as a back up gun and at $400 it was a good deal, at $325 its a steal. You do want to make sure you use a LP tank with it.  The mini regulator is designed to work best with a 400PSI output tank or less.  You can use a HP tank however you will more than likely run into high velocity issues and run a risk of over pressurizing your gun.
