So Empire just came out with a pretty cool little N2/Air tank.  Its a 56/4500 air tank which is pretty cool.  Most people who use 45 cubic Inch air tanks know that they really don’t give you a lot of shots per fill no matter how efficient  your paintball gun is. The  56/4500 Empire has seems like the best of bolt worlds, smaller than a 68/4500,  but adds a noticeable number of shorts  more than 45/4500.  Players can expect to shoot 1-2 140rds pods more than a 45ci tank depending on your gun.

The Empire tank comes stock with high pressure (800PSI) output.  However, leave it to Empire to go all in with any product they make, they even include a Free Low Pressure kit which you can swap in whenever you want.  The regulator is designed to be user friendly so the average paintballer can change their new Empire 56/4500 tank form HP to LP quickly and easily. Its like having 2 tanks in 1!  Not to mention its future proof with any paintball gun you buy.

Empire makes a white tank with the same features sold under the Invert Brand Name.  The white Invert Air Tank is pretty cool looking too.

We just got some brand spanking new Empire Magna hoppers in.  These hoppers are part of Empire’s new 2008 line of Paintball Tournament Gear in.  These hoppers offer a new optional wireless RF link to your paintball gun.  Its a pretty cool feature which basically sends a signal from your gun to the Magna hopper before your gun shoots.  By the time the signal reaches the hopper, the hopper feeds at the same time as the gun, which works out perfect.  The advantage of this is you can lower the risk of crushing your paintballs by lowering your feed rate of speed.  The hopper and gun work together as a team only when needed.  Its a lot like the old Angel Intellifeed system, which the Draxxus Pulse hopper basically took wireless about a year ago too.

Smart Parts a paintball gun manufacturer has discontinued the popular Epiphany paintball gun with the new 2008 EOS paintball gun.   The major complaint with the Epiphany is the same complaint the ION has.  You have to take 80% of the gun apart to clean and lube the bolt.  This is the equivalent of having to take apart your car engine to get the oil changed.  Sp Smart Parts basically took the Epiphany design and made it so you can quickly and easily unscrew a rear bolt cap and slide the bolt assembly out backwards for maintenance.  This is a great feature which should make the EOS a super star for people in the $350-$400 price range.  Another great paintball gun in this price range is the Invert Mini paintball gun, which we also blogged about here.

We are trying to get up 2008 paintball gear from Empire, Eclipse, Smart Parts, NXE and more as fast as we can.  We have new 08 paintball guns from Smart Parts, Dye And Eclipse in stock now!  Check out the new 08 EOS Paintball gun.  Its basically the same thing as the Epiphany however instead of tearing apart your whole gun just to preform simple maintenance you can now slide the bolt out the back of the marker.

Here is a quick note on the 2008 Planet Eclipse Ego availability.  We have currently had 7 guns ship.  We have been able to fill back orders within 1-2 weeks very consistently.  If you plan on pre ordering your 08 ego you are looking at about a 1-2 week wait which isn’t that bad.  I would imagine we should have them in stock, all colors pretty steady in about a month or a month in a half.  There should be plenty around for the spring 2008 season.

No Bugs have been reported thus for on the 08 Egos, so hopefully they will be a very solid performer.  The 2007 Ego had a solenoid design issue which came about last Winter after the guns were released.  It took planet a month or so to get the problem corrected however they did so by taking care of customers as quickly and professionally as they good.  Once that initial bug got fixed it was smooth sailing for the 07 ego.  I doubt they made the same mistake twice, which is why we have extremely high expectations for the 08 ego.

We finally got around to updated the Smart Parts Barrel section of the web site. Nothing really changed except for the colors.  Smart Parts no longer makes a polished finished barrel.  They are now all “bead blasted” finishes which is the same finish the NXT guns have.  We also updated the freak backs to prefect the current milling pattern on the backs.

We’re not sure there this typo stemmed from, however the Zick Kits are not made out of Titanium, they are made form Stainless Steel. Titanium is way too light of a metal for a hammer (aka Ram). To have that light of a metal you would need to up your operating pressure to make that Ti Ram slam hard enough to open the valve in your ego. They are a few after market manufacturers making a Titanium ram for 07 Ego’s however Planet Eclipse is saying to stay away from them. The extra force needed to open the valve is damaging the Valve Stem in the gun.

What the Zick kit does to reduce kick in the 07 Ego, is it traps air in between the cap and the ram. This air acts as a cushion for the Ram so instead of the ram slamming back into end cap causing kick, the energy is absorbed by the air cushion easing the ram back reducing kick. Once you try it you will notice a pretty big difference in kick.
