“PROVIDENCE — Shooting an opponent with a paintball gun outside a government-designated zone could become a crime in Rhode Island punishable by a year in prison under a bill state lawmakers are considering.” You can read the rest here. http://www.southcoasttoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070321/NEWS/703210361
Its pretty interesting. Yes the bill is picking on paintball and paintball guns specifically. There is one comment which pointed out that if some one was beaten with a baseball bat no one will ban baseball bats. This is true. However, If you are out and about with a paintball gun, loaded and shooting in public you are more than likely up to no good, and your actions will only hurt the sport. If you have a mil-sim (Real looking) Paintball gun your actions could actually get you killed.
Paintball Guns are not required to have a safety orange colored muzzle to let on lookers know that its not a real gun, toy guns are required to have this. If your just walking down the street the general public can’t distinguish between a real gun and a paintball gun, nor do most know the difference. This is why you should never have your gun out in plain public site. These days when grade school kids are bringing real guns to school, and kids with toy guns are accidentally getting shot by Police, common sense would dictate that having a paintball gun in public is a no no, then again shooting one in public, which is what the bill is about. I think the language of a “government-designated zone” is a little over reaching. A commercially operated or commercially insured field should do the trick. I think governments have better than to do then certify a paintball field. Feel free to comment.

We just got a small supply of Tribal Stix Paintball Barrels in from Tribal Paintball. The barrels are light weight, mid priced paintball barrels that look good and from what i can tell have a super mirror internal finish. They are 2 piece barrels with a control back and super quiet tip. O-rings are already installed on the barrel and the seam is invisible form the inside. We will test these barrels over the next few days and post a review on them under the product review. They looks like awesome barrels which would retail for around $39, but we will only carry them if they shoot as well as they look. We will be testing Spyder 12″, Spyder 14″ Autococker 14″ and Tippmann A5 14″ barrels.

1) Air tanks are not effected by outside temperatures. Which mean you can play no matter how cold it it.
2) Air is much more reliable than CO2. Your tank will never “Freeze up”.
3) Air is much cleaner than CO2 which means your gun will have less internal problems.
4) You know EXACTLY how much air you have in the tank. No more guessing how many shots you have left.
5) You get more shots per fill. Co2 will average 400 shots. This Nitro Duck 47/3000 will yield around 800 Shots.
6) Air is cheaper to Refill at fields. Average cost of a 47/3000 air tank is $4. Average cost of a 20oz CO2 tank is $6
There is a great selections of air tanks that can be found here. Paintball Air tanks can range from $69 to $400 depending on the features like dual regulation, tank life, tank weight and how cheaply the regulator is made. We test all of our tanks and we only sell the air tanks that will bring our paintball customers years of enjoyment and performance.

The tape like is the boundary line that distinguishes between in bounds and out of bounds during a game. When you follow the tape line what you are doing is basically watching your own back by minimizing your opponents attack options and by maximizing your focus and concentration on a specific attack area. If your walking the right tape line you know that no one will try to attack you from the right. This leaves you to focus in front of you and to the left.
If your serious about paintball and basically want to wipe out the other team this tip is especially important if there is rough terrain by the tape line. If their is a known flooded area where people loose their boots a lot, or a real rocky hard to travel patch this is where you want to be and pass through. Most weekend warriors don’t go threw the trouble or going threw the hard tricky spots that need a lot of work to get pass threw, this position is often left unguarded. If you follow the tape line quietly and navigate threw the rough spots you have a chance of your opposing team walking right by you or you circling around the other team. Essentially leavening their backs to you. **Warning** The ref can give your position away by following you around. If he’s close to you or watching you move tell him he’s giving away your position to the other team. I always watch the refs in woods ball
If its a capture the flag game, I would forget the flag and see how many people you can take out before someone catches on. I say forget about the flag station because most flag stations are left guarded in which case they will probably still have the jump on you. If you get the flag you would have to fight your way back threw the enemy team anyway.
If the game is an elimination game see how many foes you can snipe quickly and carefully. You want the one shot one kill and you want to aim each shot. If their are 2 people together. Don’t spray and pray because you will miss them both. Aim for one, then once he’s hit aim for the other guy. Keep yourself calm and collective.
One last tip. Once the begging break in the start game is over you want to walk with your head up. Running during paintball will cause you to loose about 80% of your vision and your awareness off whats going on around you. The only time you should be running is if your sprinting with the flag through friendly ground. Good Luck!

Money, Money Money, Monnnnney. Smart Parts announced yet another law suit. This time its against Kee Action Sports (formally National Paintball Supply). Smart Parts is saying that Kee Action Sports is infringing on 7 of their patents which basically deal with electropneumatically controlled paintball guns and paintball barrel. Smart Parts main target is the new Invert Mini which Kee Action Introduced in Dec of 06. As a precautionary move, Kee Action has stopped the distribution of their exclusive line of guns including Indian Creek Designs and First Endeavor Guns. By now some people must wonder how many lawsuits Smart Parts can handle at once?

A formal statement will be released later today but Zap Paintball, manufacturers of paintballs since the beginning of paintball has formally purchased American Paintball Supply, a wholesale paintball supply distributor out of New York. As far as we’re “hearing” APS will continue normal day to day operations without interference from ZAP or Archon Paintball, ZAP’s in house distribution company.
With big business continuing to hit and move around in paintball, I’m not sure how this deal will impact the industry. Both Companies have advantages and disadvantages for dealers nothing really ground breaking though other than APS’s profitable business model. More to come later on…

We just got a letter today from American Express saying they are raising their discount rate to 3.25% to all on-line merchants. The Discount rate is the fee that American Express charges merchants to accept a American Express Charge/Credit card. Merchants have to build this fee into their cost. So what does this mean to the average paintball player? Well nothing right now other than we might stop accepting the American Express Card, however, prices are going up with Visa, Master Card and Discover and Consumers (you) are causing this to happen and paying the bill.
Do you ever notice a credit card on TV that offers points or cash back benefits for signing up for their card? Of course you have, their everywhere. My personal favorite is I believe a capital one card where they show a few guys mountain biking and one of the guys is just pretending to bike because “his current credit card doesn’t give him points fast enough” or something like that. Well don’t by into the hype, here’s why.
Banks/Credit Card Companies make their money by charging Merchants (like Sak World) to accept their credit/charge cards. That 2-3.25% depending on the card. That adds up to a lot of money for the banks. Merchants have to build this fee into the price of the products they sell. So Consumers end up playing this fee
In the past few years, the Credit Card Industry has become very competitive. So to get you to sign up for their card they offer you benefits like points (toward free stuff) or a % cash back on everything you spend on the card. This is not a new practice but in the past few years all the credit card companies have been trying to beat out the other in who offers the most points or the most cash back per card. So instead of the credit cards absorbing this cost, they pass it on to merchants. The merchants in order to stay in business have to build the increase into the products your buying. Do you see the vicious circle here?
Some people could argue that with online fraud on the rise, the discount rates have to go up. I don’t buy that because it’s the merchants who get stuck with the bill not the big credit card companies. That why their “fraud” reporting numbers are always way understated. You might ask yourself what can you do to stop this from happening? I don’t have an answer for you other than don’t use American Express, pay cash locally and use paypal online (for now). Just some food for thought.

We now have a good selection of Kila Product paintball detents add up on the site. The detents are magnetic so they are really a no fuss product once installed. They help keep the paintball close to the bolt face and not allow the paintball to roll toward the end of the breech.

Yes i know your thinking that shooting lefty is hard and akward (unless your left Handed). The point of this tip is to get you to start practicing shooting with your less donimant hand. If your rightly you need to practice lefty. if your lefty switch it up and shoot righty. Once you have forced your self to start practicing in your non dominant your will feel more comfortable, less akward and more importantly your shots will count more.
You also can’t be behind a bunker trying to dump paint on some guy on your left when your gun is in your right hand. It leaves your whole body exposed behind your bunker. lets face it. you want to be good you need to practice shooting in both hands.

So if you haven’t already checked them out take a peak at the ANS xtreme 68/4500 HPA Tanks. These are some nice HPA tanks. The tank itself is a new 5 year tank made in Korea and DOT certified. For those of you who don’t know ANS, they made their name making Super High performance Custom Autocockers in the 1990’s (before ‘cockers became obsolete).
The regulators on these tanks are pretty short, which is good becuase it helps to make the orver all length of the tank smaller than usuall. The overall tank setup weights about 2.6lbs which is super light compaired to what else is out there for paintball air tank. The only other tank thats lighter is the Macdev 68/4500 legion air, which comes in at 2.5lbs.
The ANS tanks have been out for a few years now. We have had the pleasure of using them actively on Egos, Angels, Bob Long guns. They have given us no problems what so ever. Their MSRP is $219 we have them on sale for under $200, they are a excellent, light weight tank.
